Port Elizabeth is commonly known as the friendly city and is "a modern port with an old world charm". This city is near the birth place of Nelson Mandela, South Africa’s former president, humanitarian and icon to the world. He spent his formative years here and the coastline, and as a result it has been named "Nelson Mandela Bay" Port Elizabeth is the first stop for many on the way to Abo Shamani Wildlife Ranch as the regional airport is situated there. It is worth taking sometime to explore the city or to unwind from a flight at the Blue Flag Humewood Beach. The city boasts an award winning casino complex and is the home of the Bayworld Aquarium and Dolphinarium. Nelson Mandela Bay is home to a variety of international sport events. The Iron man Triathlon takes place in March and is a true test of endurance. St Georges Cricket Grounds, one of the oldest in the country hosts international cricket matches on a regular basis. The city will also host some of the 2010 Fifa World Cup Football Games. Click here for more information or to make a booking. |
